Hand Painted Graphics- Chrome Retail Store

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Much in the style of the bike messenger bags that Chrome designs, Chrome desired the right kind of sign for their first store front on 4th Street in San Francisco.  This 10′ garage door and regular door to the left made the perfect canvas for hand painted graphics.  The hard clean edges with bright red and black logo shape with white outline really pops.  There is no mistaking this sign as you drive down 4th street.

If you walk into the store to the right and left are more hand painted graphics done by Signs America.

LED Channel Letters for Kumon

Mabel from Kumon (a child learning center) called me to work up a sign for her at her Diamond Heights Shopping Center location.  This particular shopping center had a strict sign program that tenants were required to follow and she needed my help matching these requirements with the Kumon brand requirements for her franchise.  Lucky for her Signs America is a preferred vendor of Kumon as we have done signs for other local branches before.

I was able to look at the Kumon brand guide and compare these standards to the Diamond Heights sign guide and find the right type of sign that would work.  The part of the project, I had to do a site survey to take field measurements to make sure the signs we wanted to do would fit into the space that was available.  Lucky for everyone that the space available was just the right size to fit a 18″ tall LED channel letter sign.

After Mabel agreed to my price for the sign the next challenge was to acquire the San Francisco sign permit for this sign.  This is a service we offer to all our clients and it is a good buy since we have been through the permit process hundreds of times and can get it right the first time.  Signs America used the field measurements and photos that were taken from the site survey to put the necessary information that the city requires on the drawings.

Once the permit was acquired, it was was time to fabricate and install the LED channel letter sign.  The fabrication and installation is the fun part, but its the hard work up front that made the fun part possible.  Mabel made the right choice in hiring Signs America for her channel letters since we have the experience to get her sign done for her grand opening on time and to meet all the requirements for the land lord, the City of San Francisco, and the Kumon company.

LED Channel Letters

This is a project that we did for a book store opening up in Danville, CA.  The book store was facing a court yard of the shopping center on a large fascade that was over some landscaping.  A lift could not be brought in because of the landscaping and so the work had to be done off of ladders.
